Denver East Forensic Team Foundation

Ec: the east choir program includes 140 students and involves 6 different ensembles-beginning soprano/alto choir, mixed choir, seraphim, honors choir, angelaires and a cappella. Our performances included cabaret, winter concert, nursing home performances, arranging projects nights, middle school recruitment tour, angelaires at dazzle, pop show, greeley jazz festival and the spring concert. The performances sold approximately 2500 tickets and multiple students are going on to major or minor in music in college. We also continued our voice lesson program which served 15 students during class time.

Edc: the east dance department had 150 students in 8 classes. They produced three shows: coffeehouse, human movement project and the spring dance show a choreographers suite. This year, we switched up the spring show, and it was stricly dance-based, back to our roots as a company, which the students seemed to love. All dancers returned from last year and we had 40 new students. Sophomores, juniors and seniors get to choreograph which is unique to edc. This is why we can attract dancers from area studios who do not generally dance for their schools.

Cw: serendipity, the all-school publication of the creative writing dept, published its annual literary and arts publication and held a successful release party at the tattered cover this year. The program helped all the students in the course receive college credit through the community college of denver for their work in the spring semester of the course.

We had a student take 3rd place in a city-wide poetry contest and two other students received an honorable mention. Angels on air produced its very successful 12th season, producing 23 episodes. Two on-site episodes were filmed at meow wolf denver and the museum of nature and science. The 35 students in angels on air particpated in the annual film festival at sie film center.

Im: instrumental music involves 54 students and 5 different bands/groups (music appreciation, beginning band, intermediate band, beginning orchestra and mariachi). They had 4 school performances, two per semester, and in addition several students played at a local jazz club, dazzle. The orchestra supported the production of mary poppins for the east theatre company which required several practice sessions

Outside of school hours as well as 4 performances. Other highlights for the year include participating in citywide, playing for east arts walk, playing at graduation and we had a regular volunteer for the program.

Deft: the deft program started off the school year with another new teacher. He came from a local program and was very familiar with easts past successes and was determined to get our program back on top. He started the school year with 135 students between 5 different classes. Highlights for the year include competing in 32 tournaments including the national tournament of champions. The biggest highlight

Is that east won the chsaa 5a state tournament. We had 5 state champions, and 17 students attended nationals. Students were accepted into a myriad of colleges including oxford and harvard.

Afe: arts for east provides strategic oversight, leadership accountability, fiscal management, and collaborative coaching for the teacher- directors who instruct and manage seven different performing arts programs at east high school. This year afe hosted a fundraiser, kicking it off with a party for the community at carla madison recreation center.

Not only did we raise a significant amount of money, but we also raised awareness for all of the arts that afe supports. Our president julie andrews created a 10-minute professional video highlighting each department with interviews from teachers and students and each department in action, a truly amazing gift that will be utilitized for years to come.
