Community based, research informed collaborative committed to building a continuum of educational and community support for children and their families attending public elementary schools.

Reading by Third Grade - Involves university partners and social service agencies ensuring children have in-school access to research-based early reading instruction and social supports that address barriers to learning like social-emotional issues and chronic absenteeism. DEEP supports principal and teacher professional development and engages interns in social work and early childhood mental health.

Learning Beyond the Classroom - Offers extended learning opportunities to expand upon in-school instruction. DEEP provides after-school literacy support and enrichment programs and a summer learning program for emerging readers. It runs a summer reading campaign in collaboration with the public library to encourage community-wide reading.
