Training/Education and Outreach:A large number of people seek mediation training via Zoom and this type of training is more time intensive for staff/trainers/mentors because of complicated logistics planning and technical assistance required. Despite these challenges, the DRC-MC still provided/sponsored over 200 hours of mediation related training to over 800 individuals. During the FY 2023-2024, the DRC-MC (1) conducted 40 Hour General Mediation Training classes; (2) Advanced Family Mediation Training; (3) conducted in-person two (2)day Peace Camps for students in Grades 3-12; (4) conducted multi-session conflict resolution training sessions for Justice System Referred youngsters and their parents; (5) conducted a two (2) day conflict resolution training program for high school student interns in the EfTA program; (6) provided and/or sponsored custom designed conflict resolution training programs for CASA, Angel Reach, SHSU Mediation and Legal Services Office, etc.; (7) developed and implemented a Friends for Peace conflict resolution training program for high school students from Cyprus (8) held the Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest in which nearly 1,500 students in grades K-8 participated; and (9) distributed nearly 18,000 bookmarks supporting peaceful conflict resolution across Montgomery County. To date, over 14,000 students have participated in the DRC-MC Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest and the DRC-MC has distributed over 80,000 bookmarks with peace-building messages in Montgomery County.
