Mission

Provide educational and economic development programs aimed at improving the life of area residents. Activities include providing books supplies and volunteers for reading programs; book stipends for HS seniors; AIDS awareness education; STEM field trips to stimulate girls interest in math and science.

Excellence Literacy: Reading Program: Partnered with local organization to impact the lives of at-risk students in Northwest Huntsville area through programs that provided mentorship academic support and reading and math focused tutoring. Students in grades k-8th participated in programs designed to enhance reading abilities and increase comprehension skills; and to develop good study habits to improve their overall proficiency. Participants: DIVEIN-30; A-Step - 75; and Growth Camp - 25.

Education Excellence Book Stipends: Provided Book Stipends to Sixteen 16 four-year scholars participating in the annual Delta Honors Program; $600 stipends to the top GPA three 3 scholars and $400 books stipends to the remaining thirteen 13 scholars. Approximately 300 A B honor roll students participated in the program with approximately 500 parents and supporters.

Changing Lives Award is given each year to a community-based organization whose activities we believe are changing lives in our community.

The annual Red Ribbon Awards Breakfast recognizes individuals who have answered the call and are making a difference informing others about HIV AIDS and or who have supported or participated in HIV AIDS related research. Participation: Approximately 15.

EMBODI Program Support: A program aimed at addressing issues confronting African American males ages 14 to 17. Sponsored events included an E-sports Day. A summit workshops was conducted as the closing activity for program year. Participation: 15 young men plus 10+ support persons.

Senior Savvy: A program aimed at keeping older adults safe from fraud and scams. Partnered with local organizations to present a Grandparents Day Celebration and Seminar of fun food and information sharing. Number served: 150 seniors

Administrative cost of functional Program Services line items.

Childrens Reading Hour: Continued efforts to support literacy development in children by improving proficiency and encouraging a love for reading at an early age. Each first Saturday in the month during the school year volunteers gather at the Searcy Homes to read with local children share crafts and provide lunch. Each child receives a copy of the book to read along with the reader and to take home. Monthly Participation: 20 - 25 children plus 10 or more support persons.

GEMS Educational activities for Girls: Assist in providing activities that will help high school girls with being college ready. Workshops and field tips often to include college tours are provided.
