Mission
The goal of the Django Software Foundation is to prompt, support, and advance its open-source project: In our case, the Django web framework. The foundation's goals are to: support development of the Django by sponsoring sprints, meetups, gatherings and community.
Programs
2 programs
The DSF sponsors many local events throughout the year, specifically Django and Python events. These sorts of events are about educating people in coding. Most of them work in supporting underrepresented or financially struggling groups. Additionally, the DSF supports large, successful conferences by donating specifically to their grant programs, which helps people attend those workshops and conferences otherwise would not be able to attend.
The DSF supports the DjangoGirls organization as a whole. Many of the local events that we sponsor are Django Girls events, but theDSF also sponsors the DjangoGirls organization as a whole. The organization designs the tutorials for these workshops, and also vets local groups to make sure that the local Django Girls groups that the DSF donates to are legitimate groups, rather than people impersonating a group and looking for money. For a global network, a vetting process is important to make sure the funds get to the right people to offer the best help.
