In fulfilling that mission, the foundations is currently working on three critical projects, as follows: 1. Creation of a pedestrian bridge to connect the memorial plaza to ada accessible parking to make the memorial easily accessible to all citizens. 2. Expansion of the memorial plaza with the addition of a "memorial brick" walkway that honors any u.s. Military veteran. 3. Expansion of the memorial plaza with the addition of the names and stories of 26 university of virginia students who spent the majority of their adult lives in our community before giving their lives in vietnam in service of their country.

Memorial brick plaza project - in mid-2025, a new memorial brick plaza will be constructed along the northeast edge of the memorial plaza. The dogwood vietnam memorial foundation began promoting this project, receiving contributions for memorial bricks, and placing memorial bricks purchased to-date on display in temporary structures at the plaza. Funds from the purchased bricks will enable the foundation to continue to inform, instruct, and educate the public about our total military/humanitarian involvement in vietnam.
Public awareness - the dogwood vietnam memorial foundation works to inform, instruct, and educate the public about our total military/humanitarian involvement in vietnam. This is includes continued maintenance of the plaza including the flying of several service oriented flags, conducting an annual re-dedication celebration that is open to the public, and other means to promote public awareness of the foundation's mission and projects.
