Programs
3 programs
Community engagement: builds community among donor families, living donors, transplant recipients, people on the waitlist, and donation supporters through events, media, resources, and volunteer opportunities to promote organ, eye, and tissue donation. Collaborates with businesses, faith communities, civic and community organizations, and others to provide educational opportunities to the public in culturally and linguistically specific ways. In fy24, with the help of over 150 volunteers, we reached over 11,000 people through 119 different community engagement events and activities. Community engagement resources can be found on donatelifenw.org and social media outlets.
Living kidney donation initiatives: provides educational programs and materials to help educate more end-stage renal disease patients on transplant and living donation. These programs include a workshop for patients who are listed for a transplant to explore living donation, and various online and printed materials. Additionally works to increase awareness around living donation in the general public through events, media, and a volunteer-run community group. In fy24, we reached over 1,000 members of the public to educate and encourage living kidney donation.
Dmv outreach: partnership with the department of motor vehicles provides oregonians the opportunity to register to be donors through permits, licenses, and identification cards. Activities and resources include training to dmv regional and field office employees, collateral materials and targeted campaigns to individuals who have not registered to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor. In fy24, we educated all oregon dmv staff twice and engaged all 60 offices in participating in dmv appreciation month and national donate life month.
