Mission

To supply pet food to local agencies in support of pet owners and those in need while educating the public about pet food insecurity

Programs

Home, not alone: the mission of the home, not alone program is to provide free pet food to low-income pet owners through senior serving centers. Often, senior pet owners are on extremely limited incomes, including medicaid, va assistance, or highly restricted social security income. Pet-owning seniors often take food from their own tables to feed their companion animals. Many times the animals these seniors keep are the only family they see on a regular basis and their only real companions. These pets provide not only companionship to these seniors but also a sense of purpose and a feeling of being needed. In 2024, df2fm provided 167,520 meals for senior pet owners.

Expenses: $43KGrants: $41K

Maverick fund: named in honor of maverick chiaramonte, beloved boy of df2fm supporters and volunteers joe and patti chiaramonte, the maverick fund is a designated fund specifically to help individual pet-owning households who have experienced catastrophic events such as house fire, tornado damage, etc. Which have left the pet owner without needed resources to properly care for pets. The maverick fund is funded by designated donations to df2fm. Df2fm works with a 3rd-party emergency response agency to identify and support pet owners who qualify for assistance. General inquiries are not accepted. Examples of services provided by the maverick fund include but are not limited to: leashes and crates to help contain animals who have been displaced, pet food, and bowls so pet owners can feed displaced pets, assistance with veterinary care for animal who have experienced catastrophic events and need attention (i.e., they may have been burned in a house fire or inhaled smoke), assistance with boarding for displaced animals while the family home is being repaired.
