EDUCATION NDSC (National Down Syndrome Congress) is a national organization that spearheads a National Convention annually. NDSC provides individuals, families, caregivers & healthcare providers support and information About Down Syndrome as well as advocating with or on behalf of individuals with Down Syndrome. DSAA pays all expenses for 1 of our families of 4, 2 Board Members and also our Self Advocate & 1 Family Member to attend annually. DSAIA (Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action) also hosts a national convention annually which is a leadership conference that offers access to resources and tools that help provide local, state or regional organizations to be a successful board. DSAA does not limit attendance to the conference which is open to all Board Members. In previous years DSAA has sent 2 to 3 Board Members annually all expenses paid.
New parent education this program is designed to welcome new parents of children with down syndrom into our organization. We provide parents with binders of information as a tool to learn what we offer regarding health, education and professional references. English and spanish versions of the binder are available. When we are made aware of a down birth, our new parent coordinator will contact the hospital for information on the parents in order to present a binder, a gift basket and a 1 year free membership to join our organization.
