Home maintenance program: dscc's home maintenance program provides low-cost minor home repairs to seniors. In cases where homes require larger repair services, dscc offers assessments and provides contractor referrals. In the yard services component of the home maintenance program, groups of volunteers help seniors with various outside chores and yard tasks. Last year, dscc provided 360 minor home repairs, contractor referrals or yard clean-ups for 200 seniors. Well-being program (provided with all of our programs): dscc/ksc volunteers and staff conduct a well-being check with each service delivery. The well-being check includes noting changes in a senior's physical or mental health. Dscc/ksc collaborates with every municipality and township in dupage and kane county to account for every "missing" senior (senior not home when they are expected to be) by the end of the day. Dscc/ksc's well being checks have been credited with saving the lives of numerous older adults. During fy2024, dscc/ksc performed 386,945 well-being checks.

Health & wellness educations and pet food & assistance: health & wellness education is provided with our home delivered meals (meals on wheels) and the community dining program. Each month, older adults receive either in the mail or in-person health & wellness information prepared by a registered dietician in a flyer or presentation format. Topics include health eating, heart health, memory exercises, etc. Dscc/ksc's pet food & assistance provides donated pet food to seniors for their pets. Pet food is delivered by staff or volunteers to the seniors home. During fy2024, dscc/ksc provided 92,460 instances of health & wellness information and provided over 4,000 pounds of pet food. Telephone reassurance: the friendly phone calls/visits program provides seniors with socialization and keeps them connected within their community. Friendly phone calls/visits prevent/reduce social isolation and loneliness. Volunteers are paired with a senior. The volunteers call the seniors and engage over the phone or visit them in their own homes during scheduled times. Last year, dscc provided 4,895 friendly visits/phone calls.
