Enrich the lives of durham older adults 55+ by promoting healthy, active and independent lifestyles.

Information, referral, and social services: dcsl provides a wide range of social services to meet the diverse needs of durham county's older residents. These services include information and referrals, options counseling, home weatherization, utility assistance, transportation help, and support for nutrition and hygiene needs. Through community partnerships, dcsl also offers legal assistance, health and nutrition services, veteran resources, healthcare navigation, medicare enrollment, and much more. Our shop & grab program, which addresses food insecurity, provides over 100 older adults with monthly access to food of their choice at no cost.

Family caregiver support: dcsl's family caregiver support program assists adult children and other family members caring for aging loved ones at home. The program offers valuable resources, counseling, support groups, educational programs, and in-home respite care. Last year, our caregiver volunteers provided nearly 2,500 hours of respite assistance, easing the burden on family caregivers across durham county.

Expenses: $67K

Adult day health: dcsl's adult day health program offers respite services to up to 60 older and disabled adults each day who are unable to live independently. The program provides skilled nursing services, nutritious meals, and structured activities that promote physical and mental health for some of durham's most vulnerable seniors.
