Mission
Dyf provides resident and day programs for children, teens, and families affected by type 1 diabetes. These include resident camps, weekend retreats, and day programs. Dyf programs blend education and recreation in a setting that inspires learning, growth, laughter, and connection. Dyf allows children, teens, and families with t1d to have the courage, competence, and confidence to live long and beautiful lives.

Bearskin meadow camp - bmc is the camp facility owned and operated by dyf and where the majority of our summer camp programs take place. Bmc operates in the giant sequoia national monument and is on land owned by the us forest service. The camp facility is comprised of open air sleeping decks a healthcare center, indoor dormatory sleeping accommodations for those requiring it, dining hall, award winning arts & crafts hall, pool, kitchen and more. Bmc sessions welcome children, teens, and families where in-depth education is complimented with exceptional recreational activities designed to challenge participants and promote joy, and growth.
Year round weekend programs - dyf provides weekend education programs at multiple locations throughout the bay area including livermore, la honda, sebastopol and more. Year round overnight programs include: family retreat weekends; a kids camp operated in conjunction with kaiser permanente; and campamento familiar, for spanish-language families, operated in partnership with ucsf benioff children's hospital. The weekend programs are designed to provide families with an intense educational and recreational experience resulting in gained skills and knowledge in the areas of diabetes management and family functioning.
