"pakistan, livelihood program (20,100) - our partners did an asset-based community development (abcd) assessment to learn more about the strengths and needs within the community. Based on this in-depth assessment, we chose to start a livelihood program. One of the most significant issues is that women in pakistan are very oppressed and are not allowed to do much outside the home. A solution to this problem that the community arrived at was providing women with livestock they could raise, care for, breed, and milk. 75 goats have been distributed through this livestock program, and we continue to distribute when we can and educate the women on how to care for the goats.

Many hospitals in congo have prisons where they keep patients after discharge until their families can pay their bills to release them. Our partner program allows people to receive hospital care and debt forgiveness. Each month, we accept the bills that were paid out of our funding for the hospital.

"democratic republic of congo, hospital malnutrition prevention (11,800) - this program is divided into two sub-programs that we support at nebobongo christian hospital. First, the hospital ward for acutely malnourished (starving) children: children who are diagnosed as acutely malnourished are admitted to the hospital for a three-week stay. During this time, the kids are fed a high-nutrient diet of peanut butter, soy flour, and other vegetables. The family also receives counseling from staff, including the hospital chaplain, on proper nutrition and issues that keep the family from having food. The main goal is to educate families to prevent this situation from occurring again. The second program is the outpatient program for chronically malnourished (nutrient-deficient) children: children who are chronically malnourished attend a weekly program where they receive a high-nutrient meal. The program starts each day with devotion, prayer time, and an educational component with nutrition training. Each family is sent home with soy flour to use throughout the week. This should prevent the kids from becoming acutely malnourished and equip the parents to understand how to properly feed their families when they are discharged from the program.
