Mission
Our mission is to educate and assist community members in growing sustainable permaculture-inspired and culturally-diverse food gardens and then harvest excess produce for donation to our local non-profit food distribution partners.
Programs
2 programs
Residential Garden Program: Backyard Harvest Project solicited and harvested backyard produce for donation. Farmers Market Project hosted educational and outreach booths at local farmers market to raise awareness about food insecurity in San Mateo County to collect donations of produce purchased at the market and to divert food waste from vendors at the end of each market resulting is more than 1000 lbs of produce donated in 2024. The Senior Garden Steward project was largely dormant due to lack of volunteer and staff capacity.
Seedling Starter Program: Grew and raised thousands of seedlings to plant in EGC gardens and to distribute for free in low income communities via our food distribution nonprofit partners and our partner sites serving low income communities.
