The Earnest Shepherd Memorial Youth Center was founded 55 years ago and provides leadership, educational, and recreational programs and facilities for youth that foster character development and a learning laboratory to help youth help themselves. This grant will fund several facets of the Outdoor Adventure programs, including repairs and improvements to the outdoor swimming pool, and support of the Radical Challenge program. This program uses a mental strength based approach in working with youth to collaborate, problem-solve, detect strengths, and take positive risks. Over 2,500 youth will benefit from this project, the majority of whom are from the Liberty Hospital service area.
