Our dance academy was able to provide free dance classes for 19 students who could not traditionally afford to take classes in our dance academy. The project helped strengthen our community by bringing the art of Ballet Folklorico to the underserved. In addition, we provided all the necessary materials for the students so that they have everything they will need to succeed. We had a Spring performance where the families of the students received free tickets to view their children perform on stage. Finally, we we invited another dance company of to participate in our performance.
We were able to collaborate with the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District HARD) to begin teaching children who do not have the financial means to pay for the monthly tuition. Approximately 23 students were provided with Ballet Folklorico classes due to grants received by HARD. The children were able to perform what they learned in a 5 de Mayo presentation that was free to all community members.
