The foundation exists for the purposes of supporting and promoting the educational and charitable purposes and the lawful activities of the ecu health sciences campus.

Program and faculty support - the foundation provides support to various programs and departments for the schools of medicine and dental medicine, colleges of nursing and allied health sciences, and the laupus library.
Research, clinical and education - aid and support are given to students, professors, and residents for their research in fields of medical science. The foundation also provides support for educational activities to students and the community and to provide care to patients at university medical and dental clinics.
