Mission
The pride initiative promotes personal responsibility in a desirable environment in 42 counties in southern and eastern kentucky. It links citizens with the resources of local, state, and federal agencies to improve the region's water quality, clean up solid waste problems, and advance environmental education.
Programs

Education and outreach - develop education partnerships, foster environmental involvement by young people, provide resources to support environmental education, enhance environmental literacy through the design, implementation, and support of environmental projects, and encourage through educational activities the understanding of actions beneficial to the environment.
Roadside cleanup and beautification - pride employees and volunteers pick up litter from roads, streams, parks, campuses, and other areas for scenic for scenic drives through the region's gorgeous foliage. Pride provides cleanup supplies upon request.
