Mission
The primary purpose of the Branch shall be to promote scientific knowledge of microbiology and related subjects through discussions, reports and publications; to stimulate scientific investigations and their applications; to plan, organize and administer projects for the advancement of knowledge in this field; and to improve education in the science.
Programs
4 programs
34th Annual Philadelphia Infection and Immunity Forum. This is a one-day meeting aimed at academic microbiologists. It is attended by about 100 scientists. The meeting consists of three invited speakers and shorter talks by selected graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The is also a poster presentation session.
These are public evening lectures, consisting of a reception with food and drink followed a presentation by an invited speaker. The speakers are invited from academic, clinical, and industry areas of microbiology. There are seven monthly meetings each year.
Education services - this includes science fair judging and awards, outreach to high schools, and job information sessions for students.
We support a Student Chapter that organizes a small career fair each year.
