Programs
2 programs
Community stewardship and climate action: the organization worked with latino and minority community members to increase awareness of stormwater runoff, pollution impacts, and the importance of protecting local watersheds. Participants learned about best management practices (bmps) to reduce stormwater runoff and improve environmental outcomes. The organization also supported community-led planning and development of local projects at sites such as places of worship, parks, and civic centers to mitigate runoff and enhance shared spaces. In addition, youth were engaged in hands-on activities and education initiatives designed to raise awareness of environmental justice issues and the disproportionate effects of pollution on latino and minority communities.
Environmental landscaping program (elp): the organization increased access to high-quality environmental landscaping training for spanish-speaking latino landscapers by providing language- and culturally-responsive instruction on current conservation landscaping practices. Participants were offered opportunities to complete coursework and earn certificates of completion, with continued access to new curricula and ongoing professional development. The program also provided support and tutoring for individuals choosing to sit for the nationally-recognized cblp-1 certification exam, helping to expand career pathways and promote environmentally responsible landscaping practices within the community.
