Mission
The Foundation is an educational society which seeks to serve its members, medical institutions, and the public by fostering the highest standards of excellence in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The mission statement of the Foundation is to support education, research and humanitarian efforts of AAFPRS members in the service of patients.
Programs
4 programs
Fellowship Program - The fellowship program of the AAFPRS Foundation is widely respected by the medical community and represents the finest post-graduate program in the world for training of facial plastic surgeons. Since its beginning in 1969, this program has prepared more than 1,500 highly specialized experts to be educators and leaders in facial plastic surgery.
CME/Learning Center/Publications - The Foundation provides an educational and informational website to members which includes CME courses, webinars and informational articles.
Grants and Scholarships - The AAFPRS Foundation awards program was instituted to recognize research completed and previously presented at an Academy meeting and recognize members who have contributed to the Academy and their communities. The grants program has 3 grants that can be awarded each year: resident research grant which stimulate resident research projects in facial plastic surgery, an investigator development grant which promotes clinical or laboratory research in facial plastic surgery, and the Bernstein grant given to research projects that promote facial plastic surgery.
Face to Face - Doctors teach and perform pro bono facial plastic surgery in other countries and provide victims of domestic violence or veterans or active duty members who were injured while serving in the armed forces free facial plastic surgery, if program eligible.
