Erase Racism Inc

Partner: erase racism educates and mobilizes long islanders to support policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our area. We do this via interactive forums, workshops, and trainings; use of social, alternative, and mainstream media; and uplifting stories of those impacted by racism.

Racism research: to build a stronger and more just long island, erase racism conducts research on racial inequality in education and housing, with a strong focus on how such racial inequality manifests in new york state and long island. Specifically, we emphasize the ways that racial segregation in education might affect long island students and teachers of color and the ways that racial segregation in housing might affect long island residents of color. We utilize a variety of state and federal data sources as well as a variety of data analysis platforms to accomplish this goal, such as data from new york state education department, national center for education statistics, and census bureau's american community survey.

Public education - erase racism mobilizes the public to support diversity, equity and inclusion in our region. We offer intensive workshops, forums, and trainings for members of the public; harness social, alternative, and mainstream media to provide information and shape the narrative around race; uplift stories of those impacted by racism; and foster dialogue among diverse members of our communities while motivating them to action. Erase racism's youth development program equipped students across long island with leadership skills, facilitated meaningful interactions with students of different backgrounds and districts, and educated students about the history underpinning long island's segregated towns and school districts and how they can advance equity and inclusion in their schools and communities.education - the education equity initiative identifies unequal access to quality public schools and works to increase opportunities for black and latino students to receive a high quality education and for all students to learn in racially diverse schools.
