Mission

Our organization's goals are to provide direct support for and activities involving our unit veterans, their families, and the active members of today's 102nd Cavalry Regiment, NJARNG. We also offer scholarships to unit members and their families and are actively involved in fostering and preserving our unit history and heritage since the unit was formed as the Essex Troop in 1890.

Programs

Veterans' baseball Outing, Annual Unit Muster, Annual Unit Business Meeting, Annual Holiday Event, etc.: Our organization conducts a number of annual veterans and active duty events and activities for our members and their families.

Regimental Heritage Initiative (RHI): Our association conducts various activities designed to educate the public while also fostering and preserving our unit heritage and legacy. These activities include: researching unit history, deployments, accomplishments, etc.; digitizing all hardcopy unit records, journals, maps,etc.; maintaining and improving display areas at the NJARNG armory in West Orange, NJ; constructing replica "Culin Cutters" for display at museums; redesigning and launching a new website; actively participating in local Memorial Day and Veterans' day activities; publishing a newsletter; and placing memorial bricks at various museums and military facilities and organizations.

In the Fall of 2024, our Association worked with the National D-Day Memorial located in Bedford, VA to design, construct and install a plaque at their memorial that commemorates the participation of the 102nd Cavalry Group (Mech) and the 102nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mech) in the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, in 1944

Our organization actively supports a number of other military-oriented 501 (c) organizations and institutions such as the National Armor and Cavalry Foundation, the museum of the US Army, NJ Veterans Homes, the National Guard and Milkitia Museum of New Jersey, etc.

Our organization is actively working to preserve the legacy of the 102nd Cavalry. We do this by maintaining our assigned areas at the NJARNG armory in West Orange; constructing and delivering replica WW2 "Rhino" devices to military museums and memorials, purchasing military items for display in the public areas of the armory, etc.
