The primary purposes for which the foundation is formed are (1) to encourage and promote support for teaching and research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as carried out through the swiss federal institute in zurich ("sfit") and other leading international universities for technology and the natural sciences; and (2) to finance, in whole or part, particular programs, projects, facilities and activities of sfit and similar institutions which are deemed by the foundation to be necessary for the accomplishment of the foundation's charitable efforts.
