Historic preservation and public education for the coal mining industry

Fathers day weekend has been federally designated as miners day weekend in which echf honors our forefathers for the sacrifices they made while working in the coal mines. In addition, the weekend is spent educating the general public on the impact of the history of the industry. The weekend is begun with a parade, with food and craft vendors, a childrens area, musical shows and other activities that last throughout the weekend.

Coal heritage education of general public of historical background of coal mining industry preservation of town clock that has significance to the history of the town of windber. Repairs were made to the clock, in addition to a plaque placed on town clock building for informing the public of the history of the clock and the legacy of the clock.
