K ready is an early childhood program designed to provide the resources and tools to help caregivers prepare their children for kindergarten. Research shows that primary indicators of kindergarten readiness are having access to books and being read to at least 20 minutes a day. Eccr provided several programs in 2024 that focused on these two indicators. 2024 was eccr's 10th year as the county affiliate for dolly parton's imagination library. 58% of elgibile 0-5 year olds in wayne county were enrolled in this monthly book program. As the local affiliate, eccr pays approximately $30 a year per child enrolled in the imagination library. Eccr also partnered with local doctor offices, childcare providers, early learning programs, schools and families to help grow home libraries and prepare children for kindergarten. Eccr encouraged and supported summer reading with the little red summer bookmobile. During the summer of 2024, eccr visited 16 sites at least once in june and july distributing well over one thousand books.
