EXCEL Alaska, Inc. provides youth and young adults in rural Alaska with an opportunity for individualized, real-life academic and career-oriented experiences to complete the necessary requirements needed to receive a high school diploma and make a successful transition into post-secondary training and the workforce. EXCEL's mission/vision is to provide rural Alaska youth and young adults with the transition skills to be successful after they graduate from high school, whether it be residing in a rural or urban area of their choice. This is accomplished through increasing each student's awareness and knowledge in a wide variety of areas including personal, social and career development, service training, urban familiarization, leadership, character, and life skills development. It encompasses multiple (15 or more) variable-term training sessions throughout the calendar year. The duration of each session ranges from 3 - 30 day depending on the age and type of training.
