Mission

To normalize compassionate human interactions between the housed and those experiencing homelessness

Programs

2 programs

Community education: we ethically tell stories and share photos of people who are experiencing homelessness with the simple purpose of showing the beauty in each person. For those living inside, this serves as a soft entry to the issue of homelessness. It is a small step toward overcoming the barriers of negative stereotypes and fear. For those living outside, it is the first step towards overcoming feelings of being invisible. It creates a connection to community and resources.

Expenses: $255K

Direct client services - window of kindness (wok): effective april 2024, we terminated all physical location leases. Wok ceased to be a permanent physical office location and ceased operations. On november 12, 2024, we reintroduced wok as a remote pop-up concept, with permit approval, using public parks or parking lots for 4 hours of community connection. Wok e operates 1-4 times a month, frequently setting up in the same location for consistency. Wok creates community by handing out socks, sleeping bags, and supplies essential to staying dry and warm outside. People stop by for conversation, and a hot meal. We offer a vehicle for love and connection. Wok is a metaphor for the opportunities we each have to connect with those in need.
