The mission of sr-ahec is to deliver quality healthcare education.

Southern regional ahec offers pathway programs to include the health careers passport; h.u.m.p. Day in partnership with campbell university, heal (health education and aspiring leaders) workshop series, and partnerships with regional colleges and universities to provide pathways to healthcare education opportunities. Heal workshops focus on exploring health career pathways. Southern regional ahec collaborates with regional career technical education departments to support guest speakers and hands-on activities through health occupations students of america (h.o.s.a.) programs. (continued in schedule o)in fy25, regional health education services at southern regional ahec offered 708 ce/cme programs to 15,982 healthcare professionals. Thirty-two percent of these programs were held in cumberland county, with sixteen percent hosted in sr-ahec's other eight counties in the region and another fifty two percent held outside of the region. Southern regional ahec student housing sites supported 164 health professions students with 7,039 nights of occupancy. The students were enrolled with duke university, east carolina university, university of north carolina-chapel hill, university of north carolina-greensboro, campbell university, wake forest university, wingate university, high point university, elon university, meredith university, and appalachian state university.
Southern regional ahec's practice support team transforms healthcare delivery in our nine-county region by helping providers meet national standards and ready themselves for value-based care. This team works with individual practices to provide on-site assistance on the tools and systems needed to offer consistent, high-quality care to all patients, and prepare the practice to receive value-based payment initiatives. (continued in schedule o)in fy25, the practice support team provided support to 217 medical practices in our region. The practice support team also provides educational and training opportunities for practice managers, of all experience levels, and other healthcare professionals through the nc ahec practice management academy. In fy25, the practice support team enrolled 63 medical professionals into the practice management academy. Approximately, fifty percent of these enrollees were medical practice managers while others were nurses, physicians, physician assistants, care managers, physical therapists, dental hygienists, dental assistants or medical assistants. The nc ahec practice management academy community has 560 members and provides networking opportunities for all practice management enrollees.
