Our tiny house construction program partners with high potential youth who are aging out of foster care and at risk of homlessness to build tiny homes on wheels. Participants basic needs are cared for including a safe transitional host home while they build and additional wrap-around services, including life skills coaching in areas such as financial management and finding a job. Youth participants are trained in construction skills and high achievers who contribute sweat equity and their own funds become tiny home owners. Finally family homes has seen significant improvements in youth confidence and skill sets as they have participated in this program. Two youth were served in 2023. One affordable housing unit built.
Family care is a program from finally family homes to show care for our foster youth like a loving and caring family would. Youth aging out of foster care often have nowhere to go for the holidays, their birthdays go by uncelebrated, they graduate alone and struggle alone. Sometimes they run out of money for food or diapers for their own babies. Family care is our response to fill in that gap and give our young adults the kind of care, attention, and support that their peers with parents get. Were there to help through hard times and celebrate good times. We provide holiday parties and gifts, birthday gifts and cake, graduation gifts and parties, as well as help with basic needs like food, clothing, and diapers. 103 youth served in 2023.
Life launch is a program from finally family homes to ensure our youth are equipped with the life skills they need to succeed. They have the option of partnering with a coach or taking a workshop for each lesson, learning how to manage finances, build resilience, communicate effectively, find a job, and maintain independent living.13 youth served.
