Mission
Charlotte CSA's mission is "Changing the Lives of Charlotte Residents by Providing Community-Based Programs of Excellence." Our main programs include a fine arts and academic Music & Tutoring Afterschool in the school year, the six-week Clara H. Jones Summer Institute and Lyrical Pre-K Academy for at-risk children. We also sponsor Silver Hub Day Parties for seniors that include healthy meals, dancercize and community and health support.
Programs
2 programs
Senior Grab & Go is a continuation of a Covid program to provide seniors 55 and older with healthy hot food that helped allay their concerns about going into restaurants or grocery stores or those with transportation issues. We served 200 meals per day Monday-Thursday (closed for holidays) or 800 meals per week. Food was cooked in our commercial kitchen licensed under the Mecklenburg County Health Department with a 98.5 rating and placed in to-go containers. We followed state healthy food patterns requiring a protein, grain, fruit and vegetable for each meal.
We participate in the Child & Adult Care Food Program administered through the NC Department of Health and Human Services. During the school year, we prepare 100 meals each school day that meat state health food patterns requiring a protein, grain, fruit, vegetable and dairy for supper and a breakfast snack. During the six-week summer program, we offer an am breakfast snack, hot lunch and pm snack to 100 students each day.
