Community education: full service community schoolsthe flint center deploys staff to school sites to facilitate partnerships and programs that are evidenced to improve outcomes in the areas of attendance, academic achievement, social emotional development, and college, career, and community readiness. Site-based teams work in close coordination with school staff to integrate support services that mitigate or eliminate barriers for students and their families to thrive.

Early childhood education:the flint center partnered with local early childhood education providers to improve the universal quality of early childhood services available to children and their families. The flint center facilitated a cross-sector partnership between local education agencies (leas), intermediate school districts (isds), parents, and funders to operate high-quality demonstration sites that leveraged to expand understandings about the value of increased investments in high-quality early childhood education.

Family partnership initiatives:the flint center coordinates a flint parent collaborative to broadly engage parents and caregivers of school-aged children in addressing challenges and opportunities related to children's education in flint. Through the collaborative, parents develop a shared vision for change, develop common measures of success, identify and implement mutually reinforcing activities, and manage continuous communications to ensure parents are embraced as experts, leaders, and advocates in their children's education.

School improvement initiatives:as part of the fscs strategy, the flint center facilitates the network for school excellence, a school improvement strategy aimed at improving the universal quality of instruction for students grades k-6. Leveraging improvement science approaches, the network will engage a limited number of schools and school leaders in diagnosing, developing plans, and evaluating the efficacy of school improvement strategies.

Community engagement programs:the flint center engages a broad array of community stakeholders in examining relevant data to better understand the conditions in which children learn within flint's educational ecosystem. By clarifying relevant data for community members, the flint center seeks to initiate broader support for schools, programs, and initiatives serving children and families who have been systematically placed at risk.
