Oakland Blooms mission is to advance economic equity and to create pathways to business ownership for poor and working-class refugee and immigrant chefs and chefs of color in Oakland. Oakland Bloom does this by running its food incubator program Open Test Kitchen providing coaching and backend support incubating cooperative restaurant project Understory offering technical support to emerging cooperative collective food businesses enabling access to a commercial kitchen restaurant space to enable these business ideas to grow and supporting neighborhood events and activities to support resilience.
