Students attended Youth Ag Day in Branford. The purpose of this event is to expand our local youth's awareness and understanding of Florida agriculture and natural resources. Students from pre K through third grade were exposed to Florida's agriculture and taught about its impact to our everyday life as they rotated through different booths.
Farm City Week is a national event that brings together the urban and ag community to forge a bond between city and agriculture through education. Suwannee County Farm Bureau held an essay contest that is designed to promote the value of agriculture in the community. Agriculture is constantly misunderstood and improvements can be made by understanding issues. Students were asked to write an essay on Why is agriculture important to our community, state, and nation? The contest gives students an opportunity to research agriculture the issues faced by farmers and ranchers. They learn to appreciate where their food comes from.
