Ag Town was created by Clay County Farm Bureau members in collaboration with the Clay County Fair Organization, UF IFAS, Clay County Extension, and Clay County Cattelmen's. This is a program that conincided with the 10 days of the county fair. All attendees to the fair had the opportunity to learn about livestock, horiculture, and dairy production through hands on activities. Approximately 800 students participated in Ag Venture field trips to Ag Town.
Clay County Farm Bureau Showdown in the Springs Swine Show at the Clay County Fairgrounds brought 200 participants. Program volunteers included Clay County Farm Bureau members, IFAS, Cattlemen's, FFA, and 4-H members. Youth participants entered this show to compete for best market hog and showmanship. It was an opportunity for youth to learn best management practices (feeding programs, medical care, grooming, housing and finances) for the care of swine from birth to show day.
