Art and Cultural Heritage: The foundation operates in this sector to preserve and enhance the city's vast artistic and cultural heritage, especially among young people and more fragile members of the community, with dedicated projects and support for professionals in the region. It fuels the city's vibrant network of theatres, museums, dance companies, performance associations and other cultural institutions. The Foundation funded over 60 theatres in Tuscany, all of which could not survive solely on their own resources. With its cultural welfare projects, the Foundation has helped deprived families, senior citizens living alone and children in fragile conditions to visit Florence's most important museums. The Foundation also focuses on regenerating abandoned areas and suburbs by stimulating and supporting cultural projects. The Foundation also works with Florence's leading cultural institution, Uffizi, with which it promotes the Lands of the Uffizi project by returning masterpieces of art to the small towns and villages with which they are historically linked, thereby preserving important art treasures. The Foundation spends approximately 29.71 percent of its time in this sector.
Charity and Philanthropy: Small charity associations in Florence, or Misericordia, assist families with disabled, autistic, and Down Syndrome children, while others provide palliative care and help the aged living alone or victims of gender violence. The Foundation stands by their side, supporting innovation in the charity field by organizing encounters with young professionals capable of creating or improving services through digitalization and use of new technologies. The Foundation spends approximately 23.16 percent of its time in this sector.
Scientific research and technology: the foundation supports many research groups, such as florence university. It focuses on young people who are often forced to leave italy to pursure their research, by making roughly 150 postgraduate study grants for students suffering from financial hardship. The foundation earmarks roughly 1 million euro for major research equipment each year. In the digital field, it backs numerous projects in support of florence's innovation ecosystem. Many innovative start-ups have been created with over 10 million euro invested in the region, and with creation of 200 jobs. It has established an innovation center to train young people through start-up acceleration programs. Over 400 young people are involved in the center's innovative start-ups, in a modern co-working environment whose meeting spaces are also accessible to the public. The foundation spends approximately 13.05 percent of its time in this sector.
Environment protection and quality: the foundation supports the environment and collaborates in research of forest management and agricultural practice to enable us to protect green spaces and work for a sustainable future. The foundation also promotes exhibitions and projects on environmental sustainability at the villa bardine, a symbol of florence and a favorite destination for visitors thanks to its breathtaking views of the city. The foundation spends approximately 4.26 percent of its time in this sector.
