Programs
1 program
Fore children, inc. Provided scholarships for the robins junior golf program. Through the robins junior golf program, more than 16,000 youths have been exposed to golf since 2001. The costs for all programs at independence golf club are nominal and scholarships are available to assist those that require financial support. The scholarship program enables children of organizations like the police athletic league of richmond, chesterfield and henrico, ymca, challenge discovery projects, city department of parks and recreation, virginia home for boys and girls, elk hill high school, and the boys home to attend camp. The junior program uses the nine hole short course and clubhouse amphitheater in teaching children to golf. Facilities also include a junior clubhouse with a dining hall and four dormitories. Participants leave the robins junior golf program with improved skills and technical knowledge of the rules of golf, an appreciation of its history, traditions, and etiquette and, most importantly, an ability to transfer those behaviors practiced on the course to their daily lives. Honesty, integrity, and respect as they relate to the rules of life are the characteristics that are an integral part of the teaching philosophy. All campers are provided with a free round of golf on the short course with the hope they will continue to receive on-course experience at no additional cost to them.
