Mission

We exist to empower a generation of well black women by eliminating health disparities and other barriers that impact black women and girls. We energize, mobilize, and support black women and girls to live healthy, well, and thriving lives.

Programs

1 program

In 2024, we continued to advance our work on the saving our babies (sob) initiative with health system partners for the 7th consecutive year. The program is a comprehensive cross-sector collaboration that brings together health care systems, community organizations and members, birthworkers, public health leaders and service providers to close the gaps in birth outcomes. We center the voices of women most impacted by birth disparities to shape healthcare strategies and solutions, and to influence policy and practices affecting maternal and child health. The saving our babies (sob) model effectively improves pregnancy and birth outcomes by addressing both the social determinants of health (sdoh) that impact patient health, and the healthcare experiences of vulnerable women in clinical and community settings. We continue to play a central role as strategic partner and implementation site for this county-wide initiative that we co-designed and co-manage with our health system partners. --including managing the county-wide doula collective that we established and have expanded in support of this initiative. Our collective impact data indicate improved birth outcomes for the women we are serving thru this innovative model.
