To provide living space and fellowship to members of the cornell university community interested in the advancement of agriculture. The organization operates a co-ed fraternity for cornell university students in agricultural studies.

CALS CHARITABLE TRUST FRESHMEN AND TRANSFER AWARDS. The CALS Charitable Trust is an endowment formed by a group of alumni from the Agriculture and Life Sciences Fraternity of Alpha Zeta. Each year, the CALS Charitable Trust provides awards to CALS freshmen and transfer students. These awards are open to all CALS freshmen and transfer students who are in their first year at Cornell. The criteria for these awards are academic performance, Cornell and external activities and service especially relating to agriculture and the life sciences and vision as to personal goals. Preference is given to students who plan to be involved in some way with agriculture in the broadest sense including biological, environmental, and physical and social sciences.
