The mission of the friends of auburn heights is to connnect generations to foster excitement for auburn valley state park,steam technology and american life at the dawn of the automotive age.

Programs

Education & public outreach:fah provides on-site and off-site programs designed to share with a broad public audience the history and impact of steam technology,the evolution of the automobile (including the history of the stanley motor carriage co.), and the influence of the marshall family on delaware industrial history. The organization holds 13-15 public events from april through november; hosts private tours,summer camps & field trips; conducts outreach programs across the region; and maintains regular open museum hours on thursdays and fridays (except major holidays), 1-4 pm.

Publications: fah produces four educational publications designed to foster a greater understanding of steam technology and automotive/railroad history,with emphasis on the impact of yorklyn on delaware's industrial growth:(1) seasonal print auburn heights herald, with articles that support the museum's interpretive focus and provide updates on educational projects;(2) monthly e-news,which offers a brief story by founder thomas c. Marshall jr. As well as updates on restoration/maintenance activities; (3)an informative catalog associated with the auburn heights invitational;(4)volunteer e-newsletter and monthly web blasts to keep the volunteer teamand public informed of key activities and opportunities.
