Mission
The Organizations mission is to preserve and promote public enjoyment of the Cedarmere estate, and to preserve and interpret the history and life of William Cullen Bryant. To accomplish this goal, the Foundation promotes, encourages and actively assists Nassau County in the preservation, restoration and maintenance of Cedarmeres historic gardens, the main house, and outbuildings, with respect to increasing public awareness and appreciation of the historical, cultural and environmental heritage of Cedarmere, and its brilliant and influential former owner, William Cullen Bryant, prominent 19th century poet, newspaper editor, abolitionist, and civic leader.
