After hours crisis care program. Serious cases of animal illness, neglect, abuse, and accidents that come in after the city shelter's staff veterinarians have left for the day are rushed to a private emergency service for immediate care. Many are given major care on the spot. Others are stabilized and then transferred back to chicago animal care and control (cacc) in the morning. With no money in the city budget for after hours care, the program is funded entirely by donations to friends.
