Friends of Huntsville Parks and Recreation FOHPR is organized for charitable and educational purposes. It operates exclusively for parks recreational arts cultural and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission is to support the City of Huntsville and to provide parks arts recreation and cultural programs for the public.

Jazz in the Park - Huntsville is a collaboration between the City of Huntsville Office of Diversity Equity & Inclusion Magic City Smooth Jazz and Friends of Huntsville Parks and Recreation. The event is dedicated to promoting cultural activities through various styles of jazz at no cost to the public. This iconic event provides premier jazz talent and activities for children in the Big Spring Park. The event also includes music education workshops for local high school students who can meet jazz recording artist and can learn more about Jazz music including improvisation section playing tuning intonation and more.

Therapeutic Recreation for the Special Populations - Various recreational and educational activities for the special populations are provided at no cost and include activities such as baseball games movies bowling summer programs at the USSRC Space Center Huntsville Museum of Art Topgolf Movie Theaters and Planetarium.
