Mission
The mission of Friends of IIASA (henceforth FoI) is to solicit and distribute funds that will be used to foster and support research on the large problems and challenges facing mankind. In general, the research supported will be conducted at or in association with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), a 501(c)3 organization located in Laxenburg, Austria. FoI also aims to increase engagement between IIASA and the US community of researchers and policy makers, and strengthen the connections between members of the IIASA network in the US.

Friends of IIASA made a fund transfer to IIASA to cover the final installment of the Peter de Janosi postdoctoral award to Celian Colon.
Friends of IIASA co-organized with IIASA the scoping workshop for the Raiffa Center Initiative, attended by 30 natural and social scientists, diplomats, and science policy scholars and practitioners in October 2024 at IIASA.
Organized meetings to discuss collaborations between IIASA and the University of WI, as designated in the donations to the Foell Fund
