Nature - Lafitte Greenway Partnership's Nature Programs work to ensure that the Greenway is a well-maintained ecosystem that is thriving, beautiful, and sustainable. In 2021, LGP launched Greenway Grow, a public campaign and program to care for the Greenway's nature. In 2024, we maintained our Greenway Plaza Raingarden, removed 32,000 sf of non-native trees/bushes from our bioswales, planted 40 trees, and created a new Urban Forestry Academy to provide apprenticeship opportunities to young adults. We held 17 volunteer/education events focused on nature and Green infrastructure which were attended by 518 people.

Transportation - Lafitte Greenway Partnership works to grow the Greenway as a transportation connector, safely linking neighborhoods and locations along the trail. In 2023, LGP met regularly with public partners to plan and support the trail completion's implementation, and ensured the Greenway was accessible and more protected for Mardi Gras goers. We engaged with partners in the Complete Streets Coalition to build a more accessible New Orleans. The Greenway trail saw an estimated 500,000 uses in 2024 for transportation and recreation.
