To promote the responsible stewardship of the natural and recreational resources of the raystown lake project through the support of members and constituents in sponsoring and developing programs in education, resource protection and enhancement, and recreational improvement.

The volunteer organization provides and sponsors education relevant to events at the lake, wildlife habitat information, and good stewardship of the facilities on the federal reservation. The organization further supports the mission of the us army corps of engineers who operate the lake, by obtaining grant funds and other manpower programs to improve and maintain the facility. To that end, a quarterly newsletter is printed and mailed to all members to keep them informed as to the events and other items of interest in promoting and informing what is availabe at raystown lake by the public. Raystown lake serves over one million people annually. The organization has the opportunity to obtain grants and other funding not available to the army corps of engineers for resource enhancements at the lake. Such projects as installation and maintenance of solar navigational lights to direct boater at night or in the fog, providing funding for improvement of the fish habitat, assisting with the re-introduction of wildlife such as the bald eagle and osprey and operate a 32 mile mountain bike trail throughout the reservation.

The organization has established a cooperative agreement with the us army corp of engineers to maintain and manage the 33 mile bicycle trail which runs throughout the park.
