Research, Outreach, Advocacy, Lobbying Objective To protect the Rose Creek watershed and nearby undeveloped lands from negative impacts and to support their conservation and habitat restoration. Activities attended meetings, conducted outreach and education, and collaborated with other organizations on environmental protection. Participated in community planning process, and advocated for the preservation of undeveloped land and enforcement of environmental regulations. Conducted grassroots organizing and public education to support environmental conservation of the Rose Creek watershed and nearby open space lands. Conducted a small amount of lobbying to support environmental protection. Monitored conditions in Rose Canyon and communicated with rangers and other responsible parties.
Environmental Restoration/Stewardship Objective To remove invasive plants and restore native plants to engage the public in restoration planting, weeding and watering, and to educate people about our native plants and animals. Activities Contracted with an organization to provide habitat restoration services. Engaged volunteers in removing invasive plants and planting and watering native plants organized volunteer events to restore native oaks in Rose Canyon. Monitored Rose Canyon for invasive species. Coordinated our activities with Park Rangers.
