Mission
The friends of silver falls is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural resources of silver falls state park. Through educational and interpretive programs, we work to build a community that values conservation.
Programs

Park interpretation and festivals: the park interpreter supports oregon parks and recreation department's interpretive programs at silverfalls. Responsibilities include leading campground and jr. Ranger programs, guided hikes, field trips, discovery tables, and historic tours. Interpretive festivals educate thousands of visitors about theecology of silver falls with free activities such as guided walks, a native plant sale, plant displays, propagation classes, telescope viewing, and nature crafts.
Grants awarded to silver falls state park aim to enhance visitor education initiatives, improve accessibility to interpretive facilities, and preserve historic structures. This year's projects included the stone kitchen shelter masonry repairs, camp silver creek infrastructure repairs, fees for entrance monument designs, native plant garden signage and plants, and additional artwork for the botanical drawing collection at south falls lodge.
Volunteer program: 39 volunteers contributed 3,633 hours through seasonal festivals, the nature store, discovery tables, guided hikes, lectures, historic tours, and special projects. Total volunteer hours in 2024 equated to $96,061.
Visitor services: visitor services include public wi-fi access and music at the historic south falls lodge. Ongoing services include the interpretive friends of silver falls app which is free for visitors to download and use.
