Mission
The friends exist to advance the vision of the forest preserve district of dupage county through philanthropic endeavors. The money it collects through its fundraising efforts helps the district manage the county's prairies, woodlands and wetlands and offer educational programs and recreational activities countywide.
Programs

Grants to the conservation foundation, a nonprofit with the mission to improve the health of our communities by preserving and restoring natural areas and open space, protecting rivers and watersheds, and promoting stewardship of our environment. The conservation foundation's referendum campaign ultimately benefitted the forest preserve district of dupage county when 63% of voters chose "yes" to the 2024 ballot question.
Hosted several donor engagement events in 2024 including an avian affair, cicada education, nature after hours, monthly friends forest tours, and annual meeting. Also mailed to donors throughout the year to invite their participation in fundraising opportunities.
