Mission
The primary mission of Friends of the San Francisco Estuary is to support the San Francisco Estuary Partnership's work programs and goals; to provide environmental educational activities to the public, concerning, but not limited to, the maintenance and restoration of the San Francisco Estuary through publications and workshops; to assist in scientific research concerning the chemical, physical and biological integrity of the Estuary; and to promote the restoration, maintenance, and enhancement of the Estuary.
Programs
1 program
Every other year, since the late 1980s, the San Francisco Estuary Partnership has held a major conference on issues facing the Estuary. The conference brings together elected officials, State and Federal regulators, scientists, and the public to review the Estuary's environmental problems and assess progress in addressing them. To help educate students about these issues, and to enhance their skills in presenting technical data, we support the Estuary Partnership's Catalyst Fund. This fund enables disadvantaged youth to participate and provide decision-makers a unique perspective. It also provides youth an opportunity to develop skills in public speaking.
